We are looking for a talented Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in statistics and causal inference to join our Merch & Algo Performance team. This team focuses on maximizing member joy and engagement by improving how we distribute and promote titles across our platform. Your work will directly shape how millions of members discover and choose the content they will love
The Opportunity
In this role you will partner with business leaders responsible for content and product promotion as well as Product Engineering and AI for Member Systems teams. You will shape strategy and deliver impact through analytics experiments causal inference and ML/AI methods. The distribution and promotion of our content along with personalization are key to how members discover content. Your insights will be central to getting it right
What You Will Do

Leverage causal inference methods and statistically sound analyses to generate actionable insights and deepen our understanding of how product content and algorithms influence member discovery

Develop metrics and measurement approaches that are statistically and causally sound empowering stakeholders to make data driven decisions that deliver member joy

Establish deep collaborative relationships with team members and diverse stakeholders across the business becoming a trusted advisor and strategic partner

Ensure the team produces trustworthy high quality outputs that influence decisions and direction across a variety of areas at Netflix

Proactively analyze trends in content discovery to surface future opportunities and guide long term strategy

Work independently with minimal oversight driving your own projects from conception to completion
Who You Are

You hold an advanced degree in Statistics Mathematics Computer Science Economics or a related quantitative field

You have 5+ years of relevant experience in data science roles with a proven track record of impact

You are an exceptional communicator able to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non technical audiences

You possess deep expertise in statistical analysis methods particularly causal inference statistical learning and experimentation

You have strong quantitative programming skills in Python and are adept at data manipulation in SQL

You thrive in ambiguity and are comfortable operating with minimal oversight and process in a fast paced environment
