Shopmonkey, the leading auto-repair shop software company, is seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer to architect and scale the mission-critical data infrastructure that powers our platform. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where your work will directly influence our product’s direction and empower thousands of auto shops to thrive.
As a key leader on our data team, you will own the design, construction, and optimization of our robust data pipelines. You will have the autonomy to select cutting-edge technologies and make strategic decisions that ensure the seamless flow and reliability of data for both internal stakeholders and our valued customers. What You’ll Do:

Architect & Innovate: Design, build, and maintain our next-generation data infrastructure on cloud-native technologies, ensuring unparalleled performance and scalability.

Drive Data Strategy: Lead the evaluation and implementation of advanced data tools and frameworks (e.g., Airflow, DBT, Kubernetes, Snowflake) to support our rapidly growing platform.

Optimize Data Pipelines: Develop and refine high-volume data pipelines, focusing on performance tuning, cost management, and data quality assurance.

Ensure Platform Reliability: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data infrastructure issues to guarantee 99.9%+ uptime and data delivery for critical business functions.

Foster Collaboration: Partner closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions that drive business growth.

Mentor & Guide: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
What You’ll Bring:

5+ years of professional data engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (or equivalent additional experience).

Expertise in Cloud Platforms: Proven hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure; GCP is highly preferred.

Containerization & Orchestration Mastery: Strong proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and Airflow for deploying and managing data workflows.

Programming & Querying Prowess: Advanced skills in Python and SQL for data processing, automation, and complex query optimization.

Data Warehouse Excellence: Deep understanding of modern data warehouses like Snowflake or ClickHouse, including performance and cost optimization strategies.

A Strategic Mindset: A proactive, solution-oriented approach with the ability to tackle ambiguous problems and deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Bonus Points For: Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool), Meltano, or building and maintaining real-time data streams.

💰 Competitive Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $163,000 – $195,000 (based on experience and location)
