We are seeking an experienced industry professional to serve as a Remote Construction Management Course Developer and Visiting Professor. In this dual role, you will have the opportunity to build new curriculum and then bring it to life in the virtual classroom, sharing your real-world expertise with undergraduate and graduate students

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for a construction management professional who is passionate about education. You will first serve as a Subject Matter Expert developing and refreshing course material in key construction management areas. Then you will have the opportunity to teach those courses in our online learning environment sharing your knowledge and experience with students eager to enter the field

Primary responsibilities will include course development for new and existing offerings and potential instructional opportunities in your area of expertise. The commitment is on a course by course basis with courses meeting in an online format over eight weeks

What You’ll Do as a Course Developer

  • Act as the subject matter expert in Construction Management to develop and review course material following the guidance of the curriculum dean

  • Create course objectives syllabi assignments lessons and projects focused on key construction areas

  • Develop content covering the selection properties and application of construction materials including concrete steel wood and masonry

  • Build curriculum around construction techniques material performance and the integration of materials design and structural integrity

  • Emphasize sustainability and code compliance in all construction practices

  • Create materials on strategic planning and execution of construction projects with a focus on material roles

  • Develop coursework covering cost estimation budget development quantity takeoffs and industry standard budgeting tools

  • Communicate regularly with the curriculum dean and instructional design team throughout the development process

  • Collaborate with the instructional design team to present course material in a way that provides students with the best classroom experience

  • Identify and integrate appropriate course instructional technologies into the course design

What You’ll Do as a Visiting Professor

  • Facilitate student learning by teaching courses in accordance with DeVry University requirements

  • Develop and provide students with an approved syllabus that follows the established template

  • Organize prepare and regularly revise course materials to ensure relevance

  • Use appropriate online technologies including websites email and online discussions to make the course accessible and engaging

  • Model effective oral and written communications that engage students provide clarity and improve learning

  • Set clear expectations by publishing course objectives assignment dates and grading distributions

  • Ensure exams correspond to course objectives and demonstrate consistency and fairness in grading

  • Provide timely feedback to students

Who You Are

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Construction Management or a related field

  • A Master’s degree in Business Management is acceptable if paired with a certification such as Certified Construction Manager CCM Construction Management Expert CME or Construction Professional PMI CP

  • You have 5 or more years of relevant experience in Construction Management

  • Your expertise includes the selection properties and application of construction materials like concrete steel wood and masonry

  • You understand construction techniques material performance and the integration of materials design and structural integrity

  • You are knowledgeable about sustainability and code compliance in construction

  • You have experience with strategic planning and execution of construction projects

  • You understand cost estimation budget development quantity takeoffs and bid preparation

  • Previous teaching experience is preferred

  • Experience using Asana or a project management tool is preferred

  • You have outstanding communication skills and the ability to share your knowledge with others

Compensation and Benefits

  • Course Development Pay Subject Matter Expert curriculum development pay ranges from $1,500 to $3,000 per course for redevelopment or new course development

  • Teaching Pay Varies by location typically ranging from $1,500 to $2,700 per 8 week session

  • In AZ CA IN and PA teaching pay is an hourly rate of $22.00 to $23.50 per hour

  • Benefits include a 401(k) and Roth Plan paid tuition program remote work options paid sick time and a technology stipend

  • Benefits vary based on employment status and part time Visiting Professor positions may not be eligible for all benefits
