Your Mission: Lead Technical Strategy for a Global Payments Platform

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will serve as the technical cornerstone for multiple engineering teams, combining hands-on development with strategic leadership. You will own critical architectural decisions, drive platform evolution, and set the standard for engineering excellence across our distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Strategy: Act as primary technical advisor to the VP of Engineering, influencing platform evolution and long-term technical direction across multiple quarters and teams

  • Architecture Design: Define system boundaries, APIs, and integration patterns that enable scalable, reliable distributed systems serving millions of users

  • Hands-on Development: Lead by example as an exemplary practitioner, setting high standards for code quality, testing, and operational excellence

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, risk, compliance, and executive teams to align technical strategy with business objectives

  • System Evolution: Proactively identify and address technical debt while anticipating future system requirements for next-generation financial products

  • Engineering Excellence: Champion improvements in development processes, testing strategies, and deployment pipelines to enhance team productivity and system reliability

  • Mentorship & Community: Steward engineering communities, mentor senior engineers, and foster collaborative design practices across the organization

Technical Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated mastery of software development principles and distributed systems architecture

  • Advanced expertise in designing, building, and operating large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems and applications

  • Proven experience with continuous delivery practices and layered test automation strategies

  • Strong background in public cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS

  • Experience evolving legacy systems toward modern architectural patterns while maintaining operational stability

  • Excellent judgment in making critical technical decisions with balanced, pragmatic approaches

  • Outstanding communication skills with ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams
