Lead Technical Innovation for a Personalized Shopping Experience
Stitch Fix (NASDAQ: SFIX) is the leading online personal styling service, blending expert human stylists with best-in-class AI to help millions discover clothing they love. We are reimagining retail by making personal style accessible and effortless. Join our Discovery Engineering team to build the future of how clients explore and engage with fashion across our platform. This is a high-impact, remote leadership role where you will shape the technology that drives client retention and engagement for a publicly traded, industry-disrupting company.

The Role: Lead Full Stack Engineer – Discovery
As a Lead Engineer on the Discovery Across Fix & Freestyle team, you will be a technical leader responsible for building and refining the core surfaces where clients discover personalized style. You will lead the execution of complex projects, mentor a team of skilled engineers, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data Science to deliver high-value, sustainable solutions. This role requires strong front-end expertise with React/Next.js, back-end proficiency (ideally Ruby on Rails), and a passion for creating exceptional, data-informed user experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of high-visibility features that impact client discovery, engagement, and shopping experiences. Break down complex projects and deliver measurable results.

  • Build across the stack with a focus on TypeScript, Next.js, React, and CSS/Sass on the front end, and Ruby on Rails (or equivalent) on the back end. Work with GraphQL/Apollo for API design and consumption.

  • Collaborate deeply with Product, Design, and Data Science partners to shape feature definition, not just implementation. Use data to frame problems and inform decisions.

  • Provide technical guidance through code reviews, pairing, and constructive feedback. Actively invest in the professional development and career growth of teammates.

  • Champion sustainable engineering practices, including TDD, DevOps, and building accessible, reusable components. Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability.

  • Proactively communicate project status, technical decisions, and scope changes to stakeholders and leadership.

We Are Excited About You Because You Have:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 1 year in a technical leadership or lead role.

  • Strong expertise in modern front-end technologies: TypeScript, Next.js, React, and CSS/Sass.

  • Extensive experience with back-end frameworks; Ruby on Rails is highly preferred, but strong experience with other frameworks (Python/Django, Node.js, etc.) will be considered.

  • Practical experience with GraphQL and Apollo (both schema design and API consumption).

  • A track record of mentoring engineers and fostering team growth through trust, clear communication, and empathy.

  • A product-minded, pragmatic approach—balancing quality, scope, and business value to deliver impactful solutions.

  • A growth mindset, curiosity, and a client-obsessed focus.

Technology Stack:

  • Front End: React, Next.js, TypeScript, CSS/Sass, Figma

  • Back End: Ruby on Rails, Node.js

  • API & Data: GraphQL, Apollo

  • Monitoring: Datadog

Why You’ll Love Working at Stitch Fix:

  • $111,800 – $186,000 base salary, plus equity (RSUs) and comprehensive benefits.

  • Fully supported remote work within the U.S.

  • Solve high-visibility problems that directly affect millions of clients and the future of retail.

  • Be part of a bright, kind, and diverse team that values integrity, innovation, and trust.

  • Opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement in a growth-minded company.
