Job Description: Language Lead – Malagasy (Madagascar) – Remote

Welo Data (Welocalize) is seeking a highly skilled Language Lead for Malagasy (Madagascar) to join our global network as a freelance expert. This is a remote, project-based leadership role for a seasoned linguist who will oversee quality, guide teams, and ensure the delivery of culturally accurate and impactful language services for international clients.

About the Role:
As the Language Lead, you will be the primary linguistic authority for all Malagasy (Madagascar) projects. You will go beyond translation to ensure cultural relevance, maintain rigorous quality standards, and provide mentorship to fellow linguists, acting as a critical link between project teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert-level translation, localization, and review services. Implement robust quality control processes, resolving issues related to terminology, style, and cultural appropriateness to ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards.

Lead Malagasy language projects from start to finish, coordinating with project managers and other linguists to ensure deadlines and client specifications are consistently met.

Offer expert guidance, feedback, and support to junior linguists and team members, fostering skill development and maintaining linguistic excellence across projects.

Develop, maintain, and enforce key linguistic assets such as glossaries, style guides, and terminology databases specific to the Malagasy language and client requirements.

Serve as the direct point of contact for clients on all linguistic matters, professionally addressing queries, incorporating feedback, and ensuring complete satisfaction with the Malagasy language deliverables.
What You Bring (Required Qualifications):

A Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Language Arts, or a closely related field.

Professional Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in translation, localization, or linguistic services.

At least 2 years of experience in a Language Lead, Senior Linguist, or equivalent supervisory role.

Native or near-native proficiency in Malagasy (Madagascar variant) with an excellent command of English.

Familiarity with industry-standard CAT tools (Computer-Assisted Translation) and TMS (Translation Management Systems).

Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the leadership capacity to collaborate effectively in a multicultural, remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on localization projects for global brands and technology clients.
