Are you a master of the front-end foundation who finds elegance in semantic HTML and power in modern CSS? WorkinVirtual is partnering with a leading digital agency to find a specialized HTML/CSS Developer to join their global remote team. This is a contract role for a developer who thrives on transforming complex design systems into flawless, responsive, and performant web realities.

You will be the cornerstone of the user interface, building meticulously coded websites and web applications that set the standard for cross-browser compatibility, accessibility, and speed. Your expertise in responsive web design and CSS architecture will directly influence user experience, conversion rates, and Core Web Vitals scores for a portfolio of high-profile clients.

Key Responsibilities: Code, Optimize, and Implement

  • Write clean, semantic, and accessible HTML5 and CSS3 code to translate UI/UX designs from Figma or Adobe XD into fully functional, interactive web pages and components.

  • Build flawless, mobile-first responsive layouts using modern techniques like CSS Flexbox and CSS Grid, ensuring a consistent experience across all devices and viewports.

  • Develop and maintain scalable, modular CSS using preprocessors like Sass (SCSS) and methodologies like BEM to ensure long-term maintainability across large projects.

  • Implement interactive features, animations, and dynamic content integration using vanilla JavaScript and lightweight libraries.

  • Champion web performance by optimizing assets, leveraging modern loading techniques, and minimizing render-blocking resources to achieve superior Google Lighthouse scores.

  • Cross-Browser Testing & Accessibility: Conduct rigorous cross-browser and device testing. Ensure all code meets WCAG accessibility standards for an inclusive web experience.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in a front-end development role with a heavy, demonstrable focus on HTML and CSS.

  • Expert-level proficiency in semantic HTML5, modern CSS3, and responsive web design principles.

  • Strong proficiency with CSS preprocessors like Sass or Less.

  • Solid experience with vanilla JavaScript for DOM manipulation and implementing UI interactions.

  • Proven ability to translate complex design mockups from Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD into pixel-perfect, production-ready code.

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional attention to detail, clean code, and mastery of layout and design implementation.

  • Experience with Git and the ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative team environment.
