Job Description: Cybersecurity Operations Engineer – Remote

Are you a proactive cybersecurity professional with 2-4 years of hands-on experience in incident response and vulnerability management? Rapid Strategy, an award-winning, African-American-owned small business, is seeking a mid-level Cybersecurity Operations Engineer to join our team in supporting a critical non-profit customer. This is a fully remote role where you will be at the front lines of cyber defense, leveraging industry-leading tools like CrowdStrike and Microsoft Security to protect a complex, mission-driven environment.

If you excel at technical troubleshooting, have a keen eye for detail, and thrive on translating security data into actionable insights, this is your opportunity to grow your career within a structured, compliance-driven landscape and make a tangible impact.

About Rapid Strategy:

We are a specialized provider of advanced cybersecurity and IT services for federal and commercial clients. Our mission is to deliver secure, high-impact solutions that protect and enable mission success. We pride ourselves on technical excellence and a commitment to building a resilient security posture for our partners.

Your Mission:

To operate as a key member of the cyber defense team, actively managing security incidents, driving vulnerability remediation, and engineering solutions to improve the overall security posture of our client’s environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents using CrowdStrike Falcon and the Microsoft Security suite (Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID).

  • Own the end-to-end process—from detection and prioritization to remediation guidance—using tools like Jira for tracking and reporting on vulnerabilities.

  • Design and implement security solutions and automations to enhance monitoring, detection, and prevention capabilities.

  • Conduct internal threat modeling and security reviews for in-house applications to ensure secure design principles are embedded from the start.

  • Partner closely with IT and engineering teams to provide practical security recommendations, reduce attack surfaces, and support risk reporting with external partners.

  • Assist with ongoing initiatives, including managing KnowBe4 phishing simulations and training programs.

  • Generate detailed reports on incident trends, vulnerability status, and compliance posture for leadership.

What You Bring (Required Qualifications):

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations, incident response, or security engineering.

  • Direct experience with CrowdStrike Falcon and Microsoft Security tools (Defender, Sentinel, Intune/Entra ID).

  • Familiarity with enterprise vulnerability management workflows, ticketing systems (Jira), and common frameworks like CVSS and MITRE ATT&CK.

  • Understanding of threat modeling methodologies and secure design principles for modern applications.

  • Excellent ability to translate technical risks into clear, business-focused recommendations for diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+, Microsoft Security certifications).

  • Experience with vulnerability management, penetration testing, and incident response.

  • Familiarity with phishing simulation platforms like KnowBe4.

Why Join Rapid Strategy?

  • Contribute to the cybersecurity of a non-profit organization with a critical societal impact.

  • Ideal role for early to mid-level professionals to deepen their technical skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

  • A solid salary range of $70,000 – $75,000 for a mid-level position.

  • Work from anywhere while being part of a dedicated, expert team.

  • Thrive in a compliance-driven setting that values thorough documentation and clear processes.
