About the Role
As a Backend Engineer focused on AI Security, you will design and build systems that protect AI infrastructure and applications from emerging threats. You will work on foundational components of Stripe’s AI stack, developing tools and frameworks that ensure safe and scalable AI deployment.
This is a highly impactful role where you will collaborate with multiple engineering teams and contribute to shaping the future of AI security.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build backend systems for AI security and infrastructure
- Develop tools to detect and prevent AI-specific threats such as prompt injection and misuse
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into AI products
- Build scalable frameworks and infrastructure for secure AI operations
- Improve system performance, reliability, and code quality
- Support teams in implementing security best practices
- Contribute to defining industry standards for AI security
Requirements / Skills
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- Strong programming skills in backend development languages
- Experience designing and building scalable systems
- Ability to work across teams and manage complex projects
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast-moving and ambiguous environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in security engineering or infrastructure systems
- Familiarity with AI/ML systems or large language models
- Experience building or maintaining distributed systems
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and backend architecture
